How to Prevent Diaper Rash
Most babies get diaper rash at some point — but with the right care and quality diapers, it's easy to prevent.
4 Key Prevention Rules
Change more frequently
Prolonged wetness is the main cause of rash. Change every 2–3 hours and immediately after every bowel movement.
Let skin breathe
Leave baby nappy-free for 10–15 minutes several times a day. Air is one of the fastest ways to heal irritated skin.
Apply a barrier cream
Apply zinc oxide cream to clean, dry skin at every change. It forms a protective layer between skin and moisture.
Clean gently
Use fragrance-free wet wipes or warm water. Pat dry — never rub — to avoid further irritation.
When to See a Doctor
- Rash doesn't improve within 2–3 days of consistent care
- Skin is weeping, or blisters or pustules appear
- Redness spreads outside the nappy area
- Baby cries more than usual during changes
- Signs of yeast infection appear (bright-red patches with sharp edges)
